ABOUT US

We’re looking to boost our engineering team with additional freelance capability, and are looking for an experienced ADR recording engineer.

Yellow Shark Recording Studio is based in Cheltenham and has been established for over 24 years. During this time, it has built an enviable reputation for producing the highest level of recording and production in both music and spoken word, locally in the South-West and Midlands, throughout the UK and Worldwide.

Recording stunningly crafted audio is our speciality, spanning all areas of music as well as voice recordings for ADR, audio books, television, film, animation, radio, podcasts, multimedia, corporate video, dialogue and dubbing. Our clients include John Lydon/PiL, Wynton Marsalis, EMI, Sony, Disney, Warner Brothers, Marvel, BBC, ITV, and Channel 4 amongst many others.

We’re at the start of a brand-new studio build that will significantly expand our facilities, and our freelance engineers will be welcome to contribute to the design specification.

About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive ADR sound engineer to join our bench of freelance staff to cover for holidays, busy times, and to run especially complex and important voice and ADR sessions. You’ll be responsible for determining clients’ requirements before specific sessions, fully organising each session, full mic placement, engineering the recording sessions, and delivering completed files to clients, as well as break-down.

Our clients are highly varied. Our voice sessions can be with performing artists, actors, presenters, film, TV and post-production companies working on sessions as varied as next month’s global blockbuster to a corporate promotional video. You’ll need to be comfortable working with all of these, and able to build rapport with a wide range of people.

ABOUT YOU

You will be a highly experienced sound engineer with a focus on ADR and voiceover. You will have a detailed knowledge of Pro Tools and Source Connec t, and will be familiar with other options for producers to remotely direct sessions. Naturally, you’ll be capable and confident in the process of tracking, mixing and editing, and calm under pressure.

You will be a team player with first class communication skills and a calm, logical manner, creating a stress-free environment and setting a warm and relaxed atmosphere for our talent to produce the best performance. Most of all, you will be highly professional, passionate about recording, be able to multitask and think on your feet whilst continuing to meet the expectations of demanding clients.
